Masheed Successfully Completes Musandam Cultural and Innovation Center in Khasab; Receives Appreciation from Client for Excellence in Quality and HSE
Khasab, Oman – October 2025 – Masheed Engineering and Contracting (MEC) is proud to announce the successful completion and handover of the Musandam Cultural and Innovation Center (MCIC) in Khasab, a landmark development that combines heritage, innovation, and community engagement in the Sultanate’s northernmost governorate.
Awarded in August 2023 and officially commenced in September 2023, the project spans a plot area of 10,500 sqm with a total built-up area of 2,733 sqm. The Center was designed to serve as a hub for creativity, education, and cultural exchange, featuring key facilities including the Ministry of Education (MOE) Building, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MOCSY) Building, and a state-of-the-art amphitheater.
Delivering the project in Musandam, one of Oman’s most remote and logistically challenging regions, required meticulous planning and coordination. Masheed successfully overcame transportation difficulties, material sourcing constraints, and workforce mobilization challenges, ensuring timely completion without compromising quality or safety standards.The project, valued at OMR 2.21 million, was executed by a dedicated on-site team of 155 professionals. Key construction works included structural finishing, window glazing, roof tiling, marble installation, false ceilings, epoxy flooring, waterproofing, and external landscaping. Despite the logistical challenges of working in such a remote location, the project was delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
OQ, the project client, expressed great satisfaction with Masheed’s performance, particularly highlighting the company’s exemplary Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) practices. In recognition of this achievement, OQ awarded Masheed an official appreciation letter, acknowledging the company’s dedication to safety, quality, and professional execution. The Governor of Musandam and other key stakeholders also expressed their pleasure, noting the Center as a cultural and social milestone that will enrich the region for years to come.
